Of all the achievements in 2018, we can feel particularly proud of our collaboration with UNICEF, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, and the Guttmann Institute in developing an ambitious project to reduce child fatalities caused by road traffic accidents in the Third World.

Abertis Chairs
Every day, 500 children around the world die due to accidents on their way to and from school. To reduce this figure, the Rights of Wayproject has started action in Jamaica and the Brazil. Our vision of Road Safety is worldwide, but we also act locally through campaigns such as #SumaTuLuz,aimed at making youngsters aware of the risks of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The initiative has had great repercussions on the social networks.
Insofar as the Environment and the action taken by the International UNESCO Centre for the Mediterranean Biosphere Reserves located at Castellet castle, the award presented by the Royal Society for the Conservation of Natureis especially noteworthy. This award acknowledges the fostering of the Network of Mediterranean Biosphere Reserves that, following the inclusion of the Dana and Mujib reserves (Jordan), is now formed by seventy unique ecosystems in fifteen countries on both coastlines of the Mediterranean.
In terms of culture, the Group’s efforts in promoting major international exhibitions must be acknowledged, including two by the artist Joan Miró in Argentina and France, one by the painter Pablo Picasso in France, and one by Gala Salvador Dalí in Barcelona.
With regard to the Chair of Transportation Infrastructures and Road Safety, the award received by the International Network of Abertis Chairs – present in Brazil, Chile, Spain, France and Puerto Rico – must be highlighted. This is one of the Excellentia Ex Cathedraacknowledgements presented by the University of Valencia. Furthermore, for the first time in 15 years, more women have won the different Abertis Awards than men (11 women versus 10 men).
We continue to strive to ensure that the Abertis Foundation benefits the maximum number of people and includes as many regions as possible.
